What’s happened in Nevada
- In state court in Carson City, a preliminary injunction bars Kalshi’s sports, election and entertainment contracts in Nevada while the case continues. After the Gaming Control Board sought contempt, Kalshi agreed in July 2026 to a third-party geofence of Nevada users.
- On August 28, 2026 the Ninth Circuit ruled 3–0 against Kalshi in its federal case against Nevada regulators, finding sports event contracts are likely bets rather than federally regulated swaps. The ruling was on a preliminary injunction, not the final merits, and Kalshi has asked the full court to rehear the case.
- The same state court granted Nevada preliminary injunctions against Coinbase on March 26, 2026 and against Polymarket in late May 2026.
- Crypto.com stopped offering sports and other event contracts to Nevada residents on November 3, 2025, after a federal judge denied it an injunction. The Ninth Circuit upheld that denial in August 2026, and Crypto.com has asked the Supreme Court to review it (No. 26-344).
