How do you put money into Kalshi, and how long does it take to get it out? Kalshi works in US dollars and offers more ways to pay than most exchanges: bank transfer, debit card, wire, PayPal, Venmo, Cash App and crypto. This guide covers every method, the fees, how long payouts take and why a withdrawal can be held, from Kalshi’s help centre as checked in October 2026.
Deposit methods
| Method | Speed | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| Bank transfer (ACH, US only) | Leaves your bank in 1–4 business days; fully available within about 5 | Free |
| Real-time payment (RTP) | Minutes | No Kalshi fee |
| Debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay | Usually instant | May carry a 2% processing fee |
| Wire transfer | Same day if received before 4 p.m. ET | Free; $1,000 minimum |
| PayPal (US only) | — | First deposit free, then up to 2% |
| Venmo (US only) | — | First deposit free, then fees may apply |
| Cash App (US only, deposits only) | — | Subject to a fee |

Debit cards must be Visa, Mastercard or Discover. Wires need the memo code shown in the app, and wires under $1,000 are returned. Kalshi may give you partial instant credit while an ACH deposit clears.
Outside the US? International accounts can deposit by debit card, crypto or wire, and withdraw by debit card or crypto. Bank transfer, PayPal, Venmo and Cash App are US-only.

Security holds: when you can withdraw a deposit
Kalshi holds some deposits for a short time before they can be withdrawn, depending on how the money came in and how you want to take it out:
| Deposited by | Withdraw the same way | Withdraw a different way |
|---|---|---|
| Debit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay | Once the deposit settles | Up to 2 days after it settles |
| Bank transfer (ACH) | Once the deposit settles | Up to 2 days after it settles |
| PayPal, Venmo, crypto, wire | No hold | No hold |
Holds apply only to the money you deposited. Winnings above your deposits can be withdrawn as soon as they’re settled cash. Money tied up in open positions can’t be withdrawn until you sell or the market settles.
How payouts work after a market settles
- The event happens and the official source publishes the result.
- Kalshi settles the market, usually within about three hours, though it can take longer when it’s waiting for official data.
- Each winning contract pays $1 into your cash balance. There’s no fee at settlement for a simple yes/no market.
- You withdraw using one of the methods above.
Kalshi also pays interest on eligible cash balances, so money waiting in your account isn’t idle.
Why a Kalshi withdrawal can be delayed
- A security hold on a recent card or bank deposit (see the table above).
- A compliance review by the card payment processor, which Kalshi says typically takes 3–5 business days.
- Your bank declines the transfer or card payout.
- Extra verification, which can be needed for crypto withdrawals.
- Open positions: only settled cash can be withdrawn.
