Do you need a crypto wallet to use prediction markets? For Kalshi and the Polymarket US app, no: they work in dollars. For Polymarket’s main exchange, you can sign up with Google or email and let Polymarket set up a wallet for you, or connect your own. This guide explains the options, which wallets Polymarket supports and how to keep your funds safe, from Polymarket’s help centre and documentation, checked October 2026. We don’t take payment from any wallet provider.
Your options on polymarket.com
| Sign-up method | What you get | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Google or email (six-digit login code) | A wallet created for you through Magic; you can export its private key later | Beginners who don’t already use crypto |
| Your own wallet, such as MetaMask, Rabby or Phantom | You sign two messages, to connect and to enable trading; your wallet controls the account | People who already hold crypto in a self-custody wallet |
Polymarket’s help centre names MetaMask, Rabby and Phantom as examples of supported wallets. Either way, Polymarket runs trading through a smart-contract wallet on Polygon and pays network gas for normal trading, so you don’t need to hold POL.
Wallets compared
| Wallet | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MetaMask | Browser extension and mobile app | One of the most widely used Ethereum-compatible wallets; supports Polygon |
| Rabby | Browser extension and mobile app | Shows transaction previews before you sign, which helps avoid mistakes |
| Phantom | Browser extension and mobile app | Popular with Solana users; also supports Ethereum-compatible networks |
| Email / Google (Magic) | Created by Polymarket’s sign-in provider | No extension needed; export your key if you want to move it later |
Funding without a wallet
You don’t need your own wallet to deposit: you can send crypto straight from an exchange account to your Polymarket deposit address. Choose the same network on both sides. See Polymarket deposits and withdrawals and USDC on Polygon.
Staying safe
- Never share your private key, recovery phrase or login code. Polymarket says it will never ask for your private key and that you shouldn’t share your login code, even with its staff.
- Lost funds usually can’t be recovered. Polymarket’s support can’t reverse transfers sent to the wrong address or network.
- Beware of fake sites and apps. Bookmark polymarket.com and only follow links from it. See our Polymarket app guide.
- Keep only what you need on a hot wallet. Browser and phone wallets are convenient but exposed to scams and malware.
Kalshi and Polymarket US
Kalshi accepts crypto deposits but holds your balance in dollars; for US customers the transfers are processed by Zero Hash. The Polymarket US app is funded in dollars, with USDC deposits available on iPhone in some cases. Neither needs a wallet connection.
