How much does Robinhood charge for prediction markets? Two things: Robinhood’s own commission, which since June 1, 2026 depends on the contract price and order size and never exceeds $0.01 per contract, and a separate fee charged by the exchange your order goes to. This guide explains both, from Robinhood’s announcement of the change and the exchanges’ fee schedules, checked October 2026.
Robinhood’s commission
Robinhood isn’t an exchange: it’s a broker that routes event contract orders to regulated exchanges such as Kalshi, ForecastEx and Rothera. It charges a commission on each contract. Under the tiered pricing it introduced on June 1, 2026:
- the commission depends on the price of the contract and the size of the order;
- it’s lower at the extremes, for contracts priced near $0.01 and $0.99;
- it never exceeds $0.01 per contract;
- Robinhood Gold subscribers pay up to 50% less commission per trade than non-Gold customers.
Robinhood hasn’t published the full tier table in its announcement, so the exact commission for a given order is the one shown in the app before you confirm.
The exchange’s fee
On top of Robinhood’s commission, the exchange that lists the contract usually charges its own fee, which varies by exchange. For a contract on Kalshi, that’s Kalshi’s trading fee, which for most markets is 0.07 × contracts × price × (1 − price): up to $0.0175 per contract at 50¢. Detail in Kalshi fees.
What a trade costs: an example
Buying 100 contracts at 50¢ on a Kalshi market through Robinhood: Kalshi’s standard fee would be $1.75, and Robinhood’s commission at most $1.00 (100 × $0.01), so up to $2.75 in total before any Gold discount. Buying the same contracts directly on Kalshi costs the $1.75 Kalshi fee alone. The gap is smaller for contracts priced near 1¢ or 99¢, where both fees shrink.
Is Robinhood cheaper than going direct?
No: because Robinhood adds its commission to the exchange fee, the same contract usually costs a little more than buying it on the exchange directly. What you get in return is convenience: no new account, and event contracts next to your stocks. See Kalshi vs Robinhood for the full comparison.
